This is a screencast of me updating my custom-developed CMS portfolio website powered by the ProcessWire content management system. Content Management Systems (CMS) are extremely useful for websites that see regular updates.
Content Management Systems are ideal for clients who want to easily take control of the content of their website. Adding and editing content to a custom website without any coding knowledge can be as easy as logging into your website and populating text fields.
With a CMS, clients don’t need to rely on a web designer to make content updates and changes, and can make the changes themselves through their browser using a user-friendly web interface.
Not every site needs to be CMS-driven, but I recommend that medium- to large-scale sites are. Some examples where a CMS would be useful:
- portfolio website where you want to showcase your work
- real estate website for creating an organized and searchable database of rental or resale properties
- small business websites for easily updating information, products and services
- any website whose content needs to be updated in the future
It takes only 5 minutes to upload a portfolio item into a fully custom website. No messing around in code, and no need to download additional software for uploading via FTP. Simply login through the browser, populate text fields and and drag-and-drop around the interface.
